China had 6,000-plus celebrations in 2006
Chinanews, Shanghai, December 10 – Colorful celebrations has now become an irreplaceable part of urban life in China. According to statistics revealed at the 3rd China International Festival Industries Annual Conference in Shanghai, China held more than 6,000 urban celebrations and festivals in 2006, which well displayed both the cultural and economic development of Chinese cities.

The 21st century will be a century of cities, and urban celebrations in China are of great uniqueness, openness and interactivity, and imbued with both folk and modern cultures.

Some cities have made their celebrations a famous tourism brand, like the Beer Festival of Qingdao in Shandong Province, the Dress Festival of Ningbo in Zhejiang Province, the International Tourism Culture Festival of Beijing., the Tea Culture Tourism Festival of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province, etc.
